REGIONAL BUILDING OFFICER (SOG/ST 5)
PORT ANTONIO REGIONAL OFFICE

 

JJOB PURPOSE

Under the direction of the Regional Director, the incumbent shall advise on matters concerning the construction and maintenance of all Public Educational Institutions within the region. The incumbent’s responsibilities will also include:

  • Ensuring that relevant policies are implemented in relation to the maintenance and construction of Public Educational Institutions.
  • Planning and monitoring the implementation of maintenance programmes and recommending any adjustments that may be deemed necessary.
  • Directing and controlling the operations of the Assistant Building Officers.
  • Preparing and inspecting sketches, plans, working drawings relevant to the construction, extension or renovation of any structure deemed to be the property of the Ministry.
  • Preparing all necessary bills of quantities, contract documents, payment vouchers and certificate of payment for work completed on the Ministry of Education’s premises in the region.

 

QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE

The ideal candidate should possess:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Construction, Engineering or quantity surveying from a recognized institution.
  • At least three (3) years supervisory experience with a construction company.
  • A reliable motor vehicle and a valid driver’s licence.
